About Us

Sailor's Valentine is the thoughtful creation of Sandra Bonazoli, a New England jeweler and metalsmith who has poured the past 30 years into her beloved craft. After earning her Master's in Fine Arts, she and her husband started Beehive Handmade in '99, a charming brand of artisan metal giftware that found its way into shops all over the country.

Though Sandra always had a bit of wanderlust, she came to truly cherish the beauty and history right here in her Rhode Island home during the recent quiet days of the pandemic. As she found new inspiration in the stories of the past and the lovely coastline, cities, and towns nearby, she began to dream up a jewelry collection. One that would capture the natural beauty and seafaring traditions she held so dear about the New England coast.

Even before a hammer strikes the metal or a sketch is rendered in a book every piece of jewelry begins its journey by the water. From the rugged texture of an old anchor chain to the discovery of a tiny shell, each bit of jewelry is lovingly inspired by elements of the sea and the history of her coastal home.

After making all the jewelry with her own two hands, it wasn't long before Sandra realized she'd need some assistance to meet the growing demand. With adventure in her heart, Sandra made a grand partnership with another woman owned jewelry studio in Bali. The skilled craftspeople in Indonesia possessed the traditional hand-working skills required to cast and fabricate her designs from her own original models. Seafaring has always been about venturing to new shores and trading with people from distant lands, so working with craftspeople who spoke a different language and of a different culture felt like a natural fit indeed.
